The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association will be hosting its Legislative Day in Harrisburg in Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 9, 2012. Attend and you will meet and talk with Pennsylvania’s Representatives and Senators about the issues that affect you as a pharmacist an/or small business owner and that will impact the patients you serve. These issues include:
- PBM Transparency
- Fair Audits
- Expanded Immunization Abilities
Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students are all encouraged to attend and schedule appointments with their Representatives and Senators. PPA will provide background information and talking points on our issues, directions, Capitol maps and much more. Check this information frequently as we will update the website, especially closer to the date when we know exactly which issues to advocate for and where they are in the legislative process. It is extremely important that you make an effort to attend!
Additionally, the Pennsylvania Schools of Pharmacy will have displays showcasing information on the value pharmacists provide and perform various health related screenings. Information on Medication Therapy Management (MTM), diabetes, immunizations, hypertension and other services offered by pharmacists have been included in their displays in the East Ring Rotunda during past Legislative Days. PPA also will arrange for group tours of the Capitol for students. Others may join the tours upon request and with space permitting.
PPA will work to match students with pharmacists experienced in meeting with legislators so that students may again valuable experience.
Pharmacists are responsible for scheduling appointments with their legislators. However, we strongly recommend for small groups from counties to coordinate these appointments and go together for maximum impact. Once you have scheduled a visit, please contact Don Smith at email@example.com with your arrangements.
